  The term country music began to be used in the 1940s when the earlier term hillbilly music was deemed to be degrading, and the term widely embraced in the 1970s while Country and Western has declined in use since that time.  Country Music, while most musical genres have declined, has seen it increased in albums with 2006 being one of its best year. Country music listening has remained steady for almost a decade. The two top selling artists is Elvis Presley, who was known early as "The Hillbilly Cat" who also emerged in the rock 'n roll scene. Garth Brooks is the top-selling solo artist in U.S. history with 128 million albums sold. The term "country music" has change and now is used to describe many styles and subgenres.

Texas music Explore Texas music it has long been a center for musical innovation. Texans have pioneered musical developments in tejano music, punk rock, mariachi, country music and the blues.

Soul is a music genre that combines Rhythm and Blues and Gospel music. Unlike pop music artists, singer-songwriters are better known for their meaningful lyrics than for presentation of the song.

Goal areas may include, but not limited to motor skills, social/interpersonal development, cognitive development, self awareness, and spiritual enhancement. Music therapists are found in nearly every area of the helping professions.	Soul music Soul music has it roots in gospel music and rhythm and blues. In the beginning it was sung by African Americans in inner cities. Some the earliest soul music artists include Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Nina Simone, Jackie Wilson just to mention a few. Ray Charles is considered to be the inventor of soul music with his hit of 1954 "I Got A Women".
