§ About · est. 2019

We're two
people who care
a little too much
about websites.

WebPies is a tiny remote studio split between Lisbon and Toronto. We make beautiful, fast, very-maintainable websites for founders, agencies, and ambitious teams.

Ten years in product design — formerly at a fintech you've heard of and a print magazine you haven't. Lives for editorial typography and the satisfying snap of a perfect grid.

§ What we believe

Five things we
quietly insist on.

01

Hand-coded by default.

Page builders are great until they aren't. We write the markup ourselves so the result is light, fast, and yours forever.

02

Fixed scope, fixed price.

Hourly billing punishes efficiency. You get one number and one timeline, agreed before we start.

03

Two-week sprints.

Long projects rot. We deliver in short, repeatable cycles so momentum stays high and feedback stays useful.

04

Readable code is a deliverable.

Whoever inherits the project after us shouldn't curse our names. We write code like someone will read it. Because they will.

05

Boring tech, where possible.

HTML, Tailwind, WordPress, plain JS. We chase the new and shiny only when it makes the build genuinely better — never to pad a portfolio.

§ How we work

Four steps,
no surprises.

Every engagement runs the same rhythm. You always know what's happening this week, what's next, and what it costs.

01 · Week 0

Scope & quote.

A short call, then a written scope with a fixed price and timeline. You approve before anything starts.

02 · Week 1

Design in the open.

We design the key screens in Figma and review them live. No month-long reveals — feedback every few days.

03 · Week 2

Build & polish.

Hand-coded, fast, responsive. You get a staging link to click through as it comes together.

04 · Handoff

Ship & document.

We launch, hand over clean code plus a short Loom walkthrough, and stay on call for two weeks.

§ A short history

How we
got here.

  1. 2019

A side gig in a Lisbon café.

Mara started taking on freelance landing pages between full-time gigs. Felix moonlighted as the developer. The arrangement worked.

  2. 2021

    Full-time, two-person studio.

We quit our jobs and registered WebPies. The first year was mostly Shopify themes and pulling weeknight all-nighters. We don't recommend it.

  3. 2023

Niching down to web + WordPress.

We stopped saying yes to everything and committed to five specific services. Revenue went up, weekends came back.

  4. 2026

    Today: still two of us.

No agency aspirations. We like that the people you talk to are the people doing the work.

§ Kind words
They behave like an in-house team, except they actually ship.

First time I've enjoyed a website build. The Looms alone were worth the invoice.
